WMI’s Copyright Policy
It was reported at the May 2024 World Service Business Conference (WSBC) that copyright infringement has been found on OA websites: specifically, the posting of images for which proper permission has not been granted. Infringements can result in copyright challenges, which can be very expensive, so WSBC has directed that any infringing content be taken down.
In looking over the flyers posted on the Events page of the WMI website, we found that multiple flyers included images. Since WMI had no way of contacting every group to determine whether the images were used with the proper licenses or permissions, it was decided to disable the Events tab and remove all flyers with images. In future, out of an abundance of caution, any flyers with images will not be accepted on the WMI website.
If you have have submitted a flyer that was removed and want it to be reinstated, all images and/or copied material need to be removed, and the flyer needs to be re-submitted.
Just a reminder that all OA Conference-approved or Board-approved literature is copyrighted by Overeaters Anonymous, Inc. On the Copyright Requests page of OA.org, there is information to help you find out if you need written permission to use the OA logo or any part of OA literature. There is also a copyright permission form you can fill out.
