WMI’S COPYRIGHT POLICY

It was reported at the May 2024 World Service Business Conference (WSBC) that copyright infringement has been found on OA websites: specifically, the posting of images for which proper permission has not been granted. Infringements can result in copyright challenges, which can be very expensive, so WSBC has directed that any infringing content be taken down.

In looking over the flyers posted on the Events page of the WMI website, we found that multiple flyers included images. Since WMI had no way of contacting every group to determine whether the images were used with the proper licenses or permissions, it was decided to temporarily disable the Events tab in order to remove all flyers with images. 

The Events page has been reinstated. In future, out of an abundance of caution, any flyers with images will either have the images redacted, or, if that’s not possible, the flyers will not be posted.

Just a reminder that all OA Conference-approved or Board-approved literature is copyrighted by Overeaters Anonymous, Inc.  On the Copyright Requests page of OA.org, there is information to help you find out if you need written permission to use the OA logo or any part of OA literature.  There is also a copyright permission form you can fill out.
