What Are “Special Focus” Meetings?
If you have a problem with food, but it doesn’t present as “overeating”, please be reassured – OA is not just for “overeaters”!
OA’s Unity with Diversity Policy respects our differences, yet unites us in the solution to our common problem. Whatever problem you may have with food, you are welcome, regardless of race, creed, nationality, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other trait.
Within the OA fellowship, there are members who have discovered they are more comfortable meeting with other members who share similar experiences. The list of special focus meetings includes:
- 100 Pounders
- Anorexic/Bulimic
- Bariatric Surgery
- Black
- Health Issues
- LGBT
- Men
- Women
- Young Persons
If you’d like to try a Special Focus meeting, just go to oa.org and click “Find a meeting” (at the top right corner of every page). Then select:
- type of meeting (face-to-face, online, telephone, non-real-time) – in the tab at the top of the page
- your time zone (displayed meeting times will adjust to your time zone)
- additional search options (select language, special topic, special focus, etc.)
- click “Find a meeting”
